Travel & Lodging

Aloha and welcome to Maui! As you can see on the map, our conference will be held in a central location, at Kanaha Beach, near the airport in Kahului (OGG). North Kihei and Maalea condominiums are on, or close by, the beaches, and they are about 20 minutes away from the conference. There are several convenient upcountry locations which are about 30 minutes away. They include Makawao, Pukalani, Kula and Paia, which is on the north shore. Most of the accommodations in these areas are b&b’s. Lahaina, Kaanapali and Wailea are further away, about an hour’s drive, while Hana is at least 2-1/2 hours, due to a large number of one-lane bridges and hairpin curves.

In order to facilitate your trip to Maui, you can contact travel agents Carolyn and Earl at Business and Leisure Holidays: phone 1-800-284-0440 (within the U.S.) and 1-808-949-8100 in Hawaii, email carolyn@ultimate-vacations.net  . They are located in Honolulu, but they serve all of Maui. Their website is www.ultimate-vacations.net  . They can help you with airline tickets, condominium and hotel reservations and car rentals, or a package of all 3.

If you are interested in staying at a bed & breakfast, here is a link to a list of over 40 b&b’s in various locations on Maui: www.bestbnb.com/Maui.html  . While by no means all of the Maui b&b’s are included, it’s a good place to start .

The Kula Lodge is not a b&b, but it does have an on-site restaurant in a scenic upcountry location: www.kulalodge.com  .

You can also check on Craig’s list: www.craigslist.com  and Vacation Rentals by Owner: www.vrbo.com  .

We hope that this information is helpful to you – we will post additional information as we receive it!

Phyllis Hammond needs someone to share a room with her during the conference – a one bedroom/studio with two beds in it – in the Paia area. phyllishammond@msn.com  970 379 2530
